Why do I put the powder directly in the drum and not the detergent tray?
Detergent trays are designed for liquid detergents. When powder is added to the tray, it can clump, harden, and clog the dispenser before ever reaching your clothes. Adding Liv's directly to the drum ensures it comes into immediate contact with water, dissolves fully, and distributes evenly across your entire load. It cleans more effectively and leaves no residue behind.
How much do I use per load?
One scoop for a standard or HE load. For heavy duty loads, use 2 scoops. Because Liv's contains no fillers, a little goes a long way.
Does it work in HE machines?
Yes. For HE machines, add 1 scoop directly into the machine tub before adding your laundry. Do not use the detergent drawer. Liv's is low-sudsing by nature, which makes it well suited for high-efficiency machines.
Is it safe for sensitive skin, babies, and newborns?
Liv's contains no artificial fragrances, no optical brighteners, no harsh surfactants, and no synthetic dyes. It is formulated with only 3 natural ingredients, which makes it a strong choice for people with sensitive skin. As always, we recommend consulting your pediatrician for specific guidance regarding newborns.
Will it work on tough stains?
Yes. Sodium Carbonate is a powerful natural cleaner and stain fighter. For heavily soiled items or set-in stains, use 2 scoops and select a longer or heavy duty wash cycle. Pre-treating the stain directly with a paste made from the powder and a small amount of water before washing can also improve results.
Is it safe for all fabric types including colors, whites, and delicates?
Liv's is gentle enough for most fabric types. For colors, it will not strip or fade fabrics the way harsh surfactants and optical brighteners can. For whites, it cleans without the UV-reactive coating that conventional brighteners leave behind. For delicates, use the gentle cycle and 1 scoop. Always follow the care labels on your garments.
Ingredients & Safety
What are the three ingredients and what does each one do?
Sodium Bicarbonate (baking soda): naturally deodorizes, softens fabrics, and helps lift stains. Sodium Carbonate (washing soda): the primary cleaning agent, it raises the pH of the wash water to break down grease, dirt, and grime from fabrics. Magnesium Sulfate (Epsom salt): softens water so the other ingredients can work more effectively. That is the entire formula. Nothing else.
Is it safe for people with eczema, psoriasis, or allergies?
Many people with eczema, psoriasis, and skin sensitivities find that conventional detergents make their conditions worse. Synthetic fragrances, optical brighteners, and harsh surfactants are common triggers. Liv's contains none of those ingredients. However, individual sensitivities vary and we always recommend consulting your doctor or dermatologist, especially if you have a known allergy to any of the three ingredients.
Why is non-toxic detergent important?
Your laundry sits against your skin all day and all night. Conventional detergents leave chemical residue on your clothing from optical brighteners, synthetic fragrances, and harsh surfactants. Your skin absorbs these chemicals continuously. Over time, this adds up. Many of these ingredients are undisclosed on labels or hidden under vague terms like "fragrance." Liv's uses only three ingredients you can look up, understand, and verify. What touches your skin matters.
Orders & Shipping
How long does shipping take?
Orders are typically processed within 1 to 2 business days. Standard shipping takes 3 to 7 business days depending on your location. You will receive a tracking number by email once your order ships.
Do you ship internationally?
We currently ship within the United States only. International shipping is something we are actively working toward. Check back or follow us on Instagram at @livslaundryco for updates.
How do I track my order?
Once your order ships, you will receive a confirmation email with a tracking number. Use that number to track your package directly on the carrier's website. Please allow up to 24 hours for tracking to update after you receive your shipping confirmation.

What's the return policy?
